Can you explain course levels?

We have developed our course levels to help you understand which courses may be suitable. Please note though, these are only a place to start, so if you’re unsure please don’t hesitate to contact us.

All Levels

Devised to suit a range of backgrounds. These courses would suit the pet professional, or those wanting to develop a career working with animals, as well as the dedicated pet owner.

Most of the certificate courses have been designed to help the student develop new skills and enhance their knowledge. You can enrol on these courses without any animal related qualifications, although a reasonable standard of literacy is required.

Intermediate Level (Level 3)

Devised to suit a range of backgrounds. These courses would suit the pet professional, or those wanting to develop a career working with animals, as well as the dedicated pet owner who wants to increase their knowledge.

Most of the intermediate level courses are designed to raise understanding and knowledge further. Although no animal related qualifications are required, some background knowledge may help and a good standard of literacy is required.

Advanced Level (Level 4-5)

These courses are designed with the pet professional in mind. They are also an excellent addition to the portfolio of those wishing to gain employment or develop their role within the animal care industry.

Students studying at this level would be expected to have some prior knowledge and are encouraged to do their own additional reading and research as part of the course. Pet owners are not excluded, although these courses require a higher level of understanding, therefore a higher level of literacy is required. Some courses will require the student to produce a final written piece of work.

Diploma Level (Level 5)

Our diploma courses are for pet professionals or those who have completed one of our advanced level certificates or equivalent.

These courses are designed to build on the student’s knowledge base and to help develop their understanding to a greater level. These courses require a high level of commitment and the student is expected to do their own research and produce a final written assignment.
